Malcolm Offord

Chairman and Chief Investment Officer

Malcolm worked closely with Simon and Frank in the initial stages of WovenLight as they developed their thinking around precision private equity, which requires the injection of data analytics into portfolios as a core proposition rather than as an afterthought.

As Chairman,Malcolm brings a rare combination of traditional investing experience, together with a challenging mindset to help drive WovenLight to become a successful, next generation private equity firm.

Malcolm achieved success as a private equity investor with Charterhouse for 16 years, most latterly as a Senior Partner.  In that time, he delivered consistent investment returns in a diverse range of companies which also delivered revenue growth and increased employment under his ownership.

Prior to Charterhouse, Malcolm enjoyed an apprenticeship in merchant banking with Lazard followed by immersion in venture capital and debt capital markets with 3i and Bankers Trust respectively.

Malcolm is honoured to be a Trustee of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and a Regent of Edinburgh University.

2020 is a watershed year and a once-in-a-generation inflexion point. The impact on private equity in the next 10 years will be a focus more on value creation than value extraction. The prioritisation of data and analytics will give companies both resilience and growth and, thereby, equip them for this new future. By combining datasets and deal craft, WovenLight will be a new type of PE firm that is radically different to what we have seen to date.
