Life at WovenLight

Before WovenLight, Agnaldo worked as an Analytics Consultant at Kearney, a global management consultancy, supporting their data and AI capabilities for eight years. Agnaldo has done more than 25 projects globally, applying advanced analytics techniques to drive business impact across various industries, such as manufacturing, healthcare, education, utilities, and consumer goods.

Agnaldo holds a degree in Computer Engineering from the Technological Institute of Aeronautics in Brazil.

Akhil works as a Senior Data Scientist at WovenLight. In his role, he is focused on the development and deployment of analytic solutions which drive value creation at WovenLight portfolio companies.

Prior to WovenLight, Akhil was Lead Data Scientist at a property technology start up, where he managed the development of the data ecosystem and machine learning algorithms to aid the real estate investment deal flow - from sourcing and purchasing to managing residential real estate.

Akhil holds a MEng in Mathematical Computation from UCL where he was introduced to Data Science during his thesis focusing on algorithmic asset allocation into Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) during the cryptocurrency boom.

Andrew joined WovenLight at its inception in 2019. He is passionate about blending diverse talent profiles in order to drive significant value creation at WovenLight portfolio companies.

Prior to WovenLight, Andrew was a Strategy and Operations Principal at QuantumBlack. In this role he supported post acquisition integration into McKinsey, led finance and governance enhancements and helped drive expansion around the world. Andrew previously held roles as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey and Structured Bond Trader at Citigroup.

Andrew holds an MBA from London Business School and MSc Finance from London School of Economics.

Aris is Chief Scientist at WovenLight providing overall scientific direction to squads working at portfolio companies and those working internally to develop Dragonfly products. He also works closely with the Investment and Development teams to ensure all deployment work generates tangible business impact and follows state-of-the-art engineering methodologies.

Prior to WovenLight, Aris was an Expert Associate Partner at QuantumBlack, where he led the Data Science workstreams on 20+ analytics projects spanning a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, retail, banking, pharmaceuticals, and elite motorsport. He was the Head of QuantumBlack's Machine Learning Engineering team, which was responsible for deploying analytics models into production environments.

Aris is also one of the original creators of Kedro, a now open-source Python framework used across hundreds of analytics projects worldwide to facilitate collaboration between Data Scientists and Data Engineers.

Aris holds a Ph.D. in Robotics from the University of Edinburgh, with his research focused on learning algorithms for multi-robot and human-robot interaction systems. He was also co-founder and technical lead of Team Edinferno, the first UK team to participate in the Autonomous Robot Soccer World Cup, where it achieved a quarterfinal finish in 2012.

Danton works as a Principal Product Manager at WovenLight. In his role, Danton oversees the research, design and development of a suite of AI-powered solutions to improve performance across the investment life cycle.

Danton started his career at Bain & Company, where he served as a Management Consultant advising clients primarily in the Financial Services space, in topics related to Technology and CX strategy. Later, he transitioned to a Product Management leadership role within Bain’s NPS Prism, a CX benchmarking service built within the firms’ innovation ecosystem.

David runs all of WovenLight's deployments. He is a data specialist and has worked almost exclusively with Private Equity owned businesses over the last 10 years on value-creation projects.  David has had 2 roles as a Chief Data Officer, most recently at WithIntelligence where he was a key part of the team overseeing the secondary buyout of the business from Intermediate Capital Group to Motive Partners.

David previously ran the data analytics team at AlixPartners in London and prior to that was a Director at Deloitte.  His first job after university was as a Gurkha Officer during which time he saw active service in Bosnia, Kosovo and Sierra Leone.  

David lives with his family in Richmond in London.  He did his undergraduate degree at Cambridge University and is a former President of the Cambridge Union.  He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Cambridge Union.

Devin works as a Principal Data Scientist at WovenLight. In his role, he is focused on the development and deployment of analytic solutions which drive value creation at WovenLight portfolio companies.

Devin previously worked as a software engineer in markets and trading, where he focused on building the underlying trading platform and associated trading algorithms for a bank. Prior to that, he was the lead data scientist in product development at a start-up in South Africa where he built a scalable machine learning product to automate the end-to-end process of data capturing.

Devin holds an MPhil in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge, where his research investigated interpretable machine learning methods in the medical field.

Fraser joined WovenLight in 2022 driven by a belief that the next phase in the evolution of private equity would be heavily impacted by the use of data in all aspects of the investment lifecycle.

Prior to WovenLight, Fraser worked at The Carlyle Group within their European buyout advisory group for 17 years, latterly as a Managing Director where he was based in London and focussed on UK origination, execution and monitoring.  Exited investments where he was a Board member include PA Consulting, Zodiac Pool Solutions, RAC and Talaris.  Prior to joining The Carlyle Group, he worked at Lazard, also in London.  

Fraser has a BA in Economics & Politics from the University of Durham.

As a Principal Designer at WovenLight, Gabriel oversees the overall design direction and contributes to the creation of user-centered advanced analytics solutions, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. With a track record of winning multiple design awards, Gabriel brings extensive experience from leading roles in some of the world's most creative and innovative companies.

Before joining WovenLight, Gabriel served as a Principal Designer at QuantumBlack AI by McKinsey, where he led design initiatives across various industries including banking, oil and gas, and mining. He also played a pioneering role in establishing QuantumBlack Labs, where he spent several years developing AI and machine learning workflow tools for data scientists and engineers. Notably, Gabriel served as the former design lead on Kedro, a now widely adopted framework for production-ready data science, which he contributed to as part of his work.

Gabriel holds a degree in Interactive Art Direction from world-renowned Hyper Island in Sweden and a Master of Arts in Computational Arts from Goldsmiths University of London. Prior to that he graduated with a BA degree in Product Design and Visual Programming.

Harry started his career in J.P. Morgan’s Digital Investment Banking and Private Markets groups. This involved delivering AI strategy for Global Investment Banking, and directly turning that strategy into reality by adding data science and AI into all aspects of the investment banking process, from sourcing and pitches to live deal execution. Over the last year, Harry worked closely on J.P. Morgan’s acquisition of Aumni, and was part of a new business unit delivering AI and data-enabled capabilities to clients in the private equity and venture capital ecosystem.

Harry is pursuing an MBA at Harvard Business School for two years, starting in August 2024.

Ian works as a Senior Data Scientist at WovenLight. He leverages his background in actuarial and data-driven application development to create analytic solutions which drive value creation within WovenLight's portfolio companies.

Prior to WovenLight, Ian played a pivotal role in an AI startup in South Africa, developing award-winning AI/ML models and data applications. He also held the role as Lead Data Engineer at a supply chain analytics firm, where he built highly scalable data infrastructure.

Ian holds a BCom Hons degree in Mathematical Statistics from Stellenbosch University, where his research focussed on algorithmic trading techniques within the South African market.

Joanna works a Portfolio Operations Principal at WovenLight. In her role, she is focused on the development and deployment of analytic solutions which drive value creation at WovenLight portfolio companies.

Prior to WovenLight, Joanna was a Senior Data Scientist at Education First, supporting their EdTech arm in building a data infrastructure that supports their data needs. Joanna previously held various analytical roles within Government and Public Sector including heading a portfolio of data science projects for Access to Justice, building predictive models for tax debt collection and assessing the performance of elite Olympic athletes.

Joanna holds an MSc Social Data Science from the University of Oxford, an MSc Sports Engineering from Sheffield Hallam and a BSc Mathematics from Loughborough University. Outside of work, Joanna plays ice hockey for Streatham Storm in the Women's National Ice Hockey League.

Konstantinos has extensive experience in designing and developing machine learning methods across a variety of industries such as pharmaceutical, banking and telecommunications.

At WovenLight, Konstantinos is leading efforts to embed machine learning methodologies into the full lifecycle of investment activities - creating value for WovenLight investors from origination to exit.

Before joining WovenLight, Konstantinos was an Associate Partner and Head of R&D in QuantumBlack, a McKinsey company. Before that, he completed his PhD in Machine Learning at the University of Edinburgh. Konstantinos has published multiple articles in international machine learning and medical conferences and presented in various venues.

Nicola is WovenLight's Executive Assistant and Office Manager. As Office Manager she works across a broad range of operational areas including HR, finance and legal.

Prior to joining, Nicola was the Office Manager at QuantumBlack and Practice Manager for a leading cosmetic surgeon. Her background includes two decades in various business support roles in the legal sector.

Nicola is a driven, highly organised manager.

Oscar works as a Data Engineer at WovenLight. In his role, he is focused on the development and deployment of analytic solutions which drive value creation at WovenLight portfolio companies. He is passionate about using analytics to drive decision making within an organisation.

Prior to WovenLight, Oscar worked as a Data Engineer at both Skyscanner and Shell on several data infrastructure and analytics projects. In these roles he worked in multi-disciplinary teams to produce data products in a range of different problem-domains.

Oscar holds an MEng in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Birmingham. Outside of work you can find him doing a WOD in the gym or working his way through London's vibrant restaurant scene.

Rob works as a Data Engineer at WovenLight. In his role, he is focused on the development and deployment of machine learning pipelines which drive value creation at WovenLight portfolio companies. He is enthralled by the opportunities enabled by data and analytics to improve any business or process.

Prior to WovenLight, Rob worked as a Data Engineer at both Oodle and Nationwide where he was instrumental in designing and building scalable data pipelines using cloud technologies.

Rob holds an MSci in Physics with Theoretical Physics from Imperial College London, where his Masters project focused on simulations of the heart and how surgery could cure atrial fibrillation.

Simon is focussed on weaving the skills and methods of data science with the private equity investment lifecycle to deliver a consistent and differentiated approach.

Simon’s career in applied data started more than 25 years ago. He was a Co-Founder and Chief Executive of QuantumBlack, an analytics firm with its roots in Formula 1. QuantumBlack was acquired by McKinsey & Co, and now has a global presence helping leading organisations improve operational performance through advanced analytics. Simon started his career at Reuters in product management and then moved to ABN AMRO in Amsterdam. In due course he progressed to building technology companies. WovenLight is the fourth firm Simon has helped set up. Two others sold. One failed.

Simon lives in Twickenham, south-west London with his wife, two children and faithful hound.

At WovenLight, Vlad is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer. His focus is on creating robust and scalable assets for managing the machine learning lifecycle and facilitating advanced analytics solutions.

Before joining WovenLight, Vlad was a Data Scientist at Capgemini Invent, where he focused on the creation of MLOps solutions and the implementation and deployment of machine learning products, for the public sector.  

Previously, Vlad worked as a Data Scientist in a consumer financing company where he concentrated on the development and release of machine learning models to inform lead acquisition, loan underwriting and business modelling.

Vlad holds an MSc in Mathematics, Business and Finance from the University of Exeter.

Ziedo works as a Senior Data Scientist at WovenLight. With experience across consulting, start-ups, and big tech, combined with a background in mathematics and scientific research, he is passionate about applying a rigorous approach to data science and analytics in order to drive real value creation.

Previously, Ziedo worked as a Senior Data Scientist at TikTok, building internal machine learning and analytics solutions to support the TikTok e-commerce platform. His work included developing and deploying machine learning models to identify high-potential leads, a new approach to creator-follower demographics clustering specific to the UK market, and numerous business-wide product analytics tools to enable strategic decision making. Prior to this he worked as a Data Scientist at Series A (later Series B) start-up Unmind, working across the full data science spectrum from problem scoping, A/B testing, analytics, ML, and deployment. Before that, he worked as a consultant at Newton Europe, working with a wide range of both private and public sector organisations.

Ziedo holds a PhD in Analytical Science (Physics and Biomedical Engineering), an MSc in Analytical Science, and a BSc in Mathematics, all from the University of Warwick.
